British Stoneflies (Plecoptera)

 

The stoneflies are one of the most primitive of of winged fly orders and the useful list is quite short,  eleven altogether, although they are very prolific, especially in the north

and west of the U.K.

 

Large Stonefly - Perla bipunctata,

                           Dinocras cephalotes,

                           Perlodes microcephala.

 

Medium Stonefly - Diura bicaudata.

 

Yellow Sally - Isoperla grammatica.

 

February Red - Taerniopterix nebulosa.

 

Willow Fly - Leuctra geniculata.

 

Early Brown - Protonemura meyeri.

 

Small Brown - Nemoura cinerea.

 

Small Yellow Sally - Cloroperla torrentium.

 

Needle Fly - Leuctra fusca.
