Italian Soft Hackle Wet Flies.

The Valasesiana
These flies are from the Sesia valley in the Piedmont of Northern Italy. They have been used for over two hundred years on the river Sesia.
These versions are tied on modern curved shank grub hooks and the hackles are tied in so that they curve forward with the body wound close to force them forwards. Pearsall’s silks, hen and game bird hackles were used. Hook sizes recommended by Taff Price are 16-18 for grayling and 10-16 for trout.
They are probably best on fast running mountain streams.
