Hackle used on these flies is Brahma hen saddle
wpa791a6d6_1b.jpg
The recipes for these flies came from John Robert’s “Dictionary of Trout Flies” 1st ed.
The hackle recommended as a substitute for unobtainable Dotterel was Plover, which is now just as unobtainable.
When I saw these dyed Brahma hen saddles called ‘Plover’, I thought I would see what they were like.
Not too bad, although how much like real Plover, I’m  not so sure.
This is the real article.
